After serving on the board since 2014, Jens Peter Hansen has for the last two years been the president of Danish Cyclists’ Federation. He was a board member at European Cyclists’ Federation for two years and has since 2005 as a city council member in the municipality of Randers advocated the case of bicycling and exploiting ways to nudge citizens to move from seat to saddle. Being able to cycle brings freedom, happiness and new experiences. Danish Cyclists' Federation work to make the bicycle the natural, safe everyday choice for all, and to harness the bicycle to bring about a healthier, more sustainable world. The Danish Cyclists’ Federation have ongoing contact with politicians and officials in the parliament and a long list of municipalities – and the Danish Cyclists’ Federation sits at the table when future traffic is debated and solutions to be found. Educated as a farmer, holding a master's degree from the Agricultural University, Copenhagen, working 15 years in agricultural research and 16 years in the agricultural advisory service specializing in ICT, Jens Peter's professional career spans the entire spectrum from practice to theory. The same approach applies to Jens Peter’s efforts to get more people to cycle more: Besides advocating cycling, consciously pursuing an active lifestyle he rides 12-15.000 km a year for transportation purposes; he is self-employed with business activities in providing convenient and safe bicycle parking (Bikeep.dk) and doing Google Street View work visualizing opportunities for exploring nature from the saddle of a bicycle (Trailview.dk).
